Well, I’m sure you’ve all seen the new changes Facebook implemented last week. Wow – will they ever leave well enough alone? Probably not. Growth doesn’t come without change. We see that in our own business, right? If you don’t ever change up the way you do things, update products and services then your business becomes stagnant and unexciting.
I think, though, that Facebook is smart. Marc Zuckerberg knows that one way to stay top of mind in his users minds is to create a bit of a hullabaloo. People all over the world are talking about the changes. Some love the changes, some hate them, and some are just taking it in stride.
Taking it in stride is what I’m going to do. Why? Because I really can’t complain about a tool I can use to build my business – and it doesn’t cost me one red cent! Matter of face, it’s providing me with a way to reach out to millions of people who could be a potential client. Complain – no. Whine a bit, sure! LOL
But, still, there are many Facebook users are pretty unhappy with the new look and formatting.
Let’s take a look at some of the new features:
- “Top Story” function that highlights the most relevant tidbits from friends.
- Twitter-like news Ticker sitting on the upper right side of the page (the most hated feature of them all).
- Larger photos.
That’s not all folks! On September 29th, everyone’s profile page will look different. The Timeline will have a newspaper feel to it, and it will allow you to read every Facebook post you made since you signed on. My Timeline reads back to 2007!
You can enable yours now if you just can’t wait. Click here to find out how. Below is a sample of my Timeline which I enabled on Friday.

One of the changes many people WANT to see on Facebook is the ‘Dislike’ button. Just so you know, that’s probably never going to happen. Social Media is a venue for positive interaction with our communities. There’s enough negativity in the world – having more of it on Facebook just wouldn’t seem right.
